Words worth keeping.

Every good book hands you words you'd like to keep. Wordmi keeps them. Search a word and it's saved, filed under the book you're reading, and counted toward a picture of your vocabulary as it grows.

A look inside

Illustrations of the real screens, in the app's Book theme. Pick a different theme further down and they change clothes with the page.

Your collection, plainly

Words in a list you'll actually reread, with their tags on the row. Sort, filter, and group from the toolbar; search floats along wherever you scroll.

The reader you're becoming

A reading level worked out from your own words, your pace, your streak, and book suggestions pitched to where you actually are.

A tag per book, per exam, per whim

Flip auto-tag on when you start a novel and your lookups sort themselves. Deleting a tag never deletes words; it only takes the label off.

The Investigate tab

Ask a question a dictionary can't answer

Word Finder is a dictionary running backward. Describe the thing you mean, in as many words as it takes, and Word Finder answers with the words that mean exactly that. Reach for it on the sentence you've rewritten four times.

And that's one tile on the shelf. Tap any tool below and this panel will show you what it does. Suggest Words and the Bookstore Finder are free, since neither of them asks our server anything, and the rest come with Wordmi Pro.

Describe the idea
  • fernwehan ache for somewhere far away; farsickness
  • hiraethlonging for a home you can't return to
  • saudadea tender missing of something absent
  • wanderlustthe itch to be elsewhere

What's free, and what Pro is for

The honest version, since you'd find out in the app anyway.

Free, and staying that way

  • The whole dictionary, offline: 370,000+ words and growing
  • Keep as many words as you like
  • Five tags, auto-tagging included
  • Every insight, the quiz, the word of the day
  • Backup to your own private iCloud
  • Importing your words from a file. Always. Bringing your own words in will never cost money.

Wordmi Pro

  • Your words on every device you sign in to, kept in step
  • The Investigate tools that do their thinking on our server
  • Tags without the limit
  • Export the whole collection as a CSV file, yours to keep

Prices are on the paywall in the app.

Wherever you land, your words live on your phone and in your own iCloud. Pro is for the second device, the Investigate tools that run on our server, and taking the whole collection out the door as a file.

A companion, not a flashcard chore

Wordmi is built for the moment of reading: search a word and the word is already saved.

  1. I

    Look anything up

The entire dictionary lives on your phone, so the answer arrives in a breath whether you're on the subway or in a tent. Meet a word even the dictionary doesn't know, and Wordmi goes and finds out.

  2. II

    Your words sort themselves

Tell Wordmi what you're reading and every word you look up lands under that book's tag until you say stop. A tag per book, per exam, per whim.

  3. III

    Watch your vocabulary grow

A reading level that moves as you do, the hours you reach for words, the ones that stay slippery, and a quiz that catches you pleasantly off guard.

A word before breakfast

Put a word of the day on your lock screen and review happens before you've even unlocked the phone. Draw it from the dictionary at large, or from your own collection so the slippery ones keep coming back around.

Adding a lock screen widget is the fiddliest thing Apple ships; Wordmi walks you through it step by step and checks that it worked.

Read in a room you like

Ink on paper, neon for the small hours, moss and bark. Pick one and this page wears it too, phones and all.

On privacy

Short, and worth reading.

Your saved words live on your phone and in your own private iCloud. We collect usage statistics so we can find what's broken, which includes the words you look up, and you can switch that off in Settings whenever you like. We don't sell your data, and we're not in the advertising business.

Read the full policy. It's written to be read.

On our desks right now

None of this is in the app yet. It's what we're building next, and we'd rather tell you than surprise you.

Exam prep

Turn a tag into a study plan: the GRE words you keep missing, drilled until they stay put.

More languages

The dictionary is learning new languages, for reading in one and keeping words in another.
